Ohio spring break

For Easter break my mom, me, and both of my sisters went to Ohio to visit my mom’s parents. On Sunday we drove 10h each way and it actually was fun haha. We listened to throwback songs and a lot of Disney songs. On the way to Ohio we stopped at Flight 93 in Pennsylvania and we went in the little museum that was there. When we finally arrived we went to “Frisch's big boy”. The first day there we visited the great grandmother of my sisters and afterward we went out for lunch with her and my sister’s cousins. Later that day we went to an ice cream shop and played with the grandparent’s horse, donkey, and dog. For dinner we had skyline. The next day we went to “Jungle Jim’s”. It’s a huge supermarket with food imported from different countries. They had food from Switzerland but just not that much I mean they had chocolate but that’s basically it. And then we had “Gold Star Chili” it’s similar to skyline but the taste is a little different. We ate so much food in these days I don’t even know how we did that but we only were there till Thursday because on Wednesday we got up at like 6am to drive back to New Jersey. On the way back we stopped at Hershey Park. It was pretty cool to see how they make their chocolate and at the end of the tour you got a little Hershey chocolate bar.

Hawaii

So i know i haven't posted in a long time but a lot happened haha So in february my older sister turned 17 so now she can drive without having an adult in the car. That also means she drives me to school haha Then in march from march 4 to march 11 i was in hawaii with the ef discoverytour and it was great. My parent gave me that as Christmas gift and it was amazing. My friend from Switzerland which i was in the same class for 4 years was there to and we even shared a room. There were about 70 exchange students from all over Europe and Asia and about half of them could speak german lol. So the first day i landet there at like 4 and we were at the hotel about an hour later. On the way to the hotel we had a guy in the bus that told us stuff about hawaii and waikiki. Then we had a pizza party and we just walked around and it started to rain a little haha. The second day we were at the beach the whole day until 4 and then we went to a luau. It was really cool and they made "crowns" out of palm leaves but then like 30 minutes later it started raining but that didn't really matter to us because it was warn. It rained till we went home and curfew was always at 10:30. Day 3: we went to the uss Arizona and to the uss Missouri monument it was so impressive to see that but also really sad. After spending the day there we went on a cruise ship to eat dinner. And i have to say the food in hawaii is amazing haha. Then they danced and played music that was really fun. On the 4th day we went surfing at the waikiki beach and that was a lot of fun we did it for one hour but after that my arms really hurt haha. The rest of the day we just spent on the beach. On day 5 we went hiking on the diamond head(it's actually a volcano) it took us like 40 minutes to get up there and the view was amazing you could even see to the next island. To get down it took us like 10 minutes haha and then we did a sightseeing tour and in the evening we ate in the hard rock cafe. Afterward we had like 2 hour of free time to go shopping or just walk around. On the 6th day we went snorkeling and that was my first time snorkeling in a riff. It was so cool i didn't see a turtle but at least some pretty cool fish we were there for like 3 hours and when we got back to our hotel we had free time again. Through that week we had a lot of free time and i thought that was really cool. On day 7 we had free time again and we just spent the day at the beach we had to take the bus to the airport at 5 even though our flight left at 10 so we just chilled at the airport for like 4 hours haha But i have to say that was the highlight of my exchange year so far even though my year was really cool so far but i mean it's HAWAII :'D I'm making a vlog (video blog) with all the pictures and videos i took but that's probably going to take me a while.

Christmas break

So this was definitely a week that I won't forget that fast. So first my family from Switzerland sent me christmas presents and one dog tore up the present from my sister, a photo album. December 24th my family and I were at a friends house with a lot of people. That was a lot of fun. on December 25th we went to the hibachi restaurant and it was delicious. Later that evening we went to my sisters boyfriends house to eat dessert and celebrate with them a little. Monday the 26th my dad, sister, her boyfriend and me went skiing in Killington for 2 days. The first night in the hotel was pretty weird bc at 1am the fire alarms went off so we had to go outside in the cold and it started raining right when we went outside. we waited there for like 10 minutes till we got in the car and drove to denny's. so we had a really early breakfast ^^. We went back to the hotel at like 2.30am and right when we were about to fall asleep the fire alarms went off again but only for like 2 minutes. I got about 5 hours of sleep that night. So at 8 we got up and ready to go skiing. It was pretty windy that day but the snow was nice to ski on. we skied all day long and in the evening we went to the movies and watched "Passengers". That night the fire alarms luckily stayed quiet. The second day was way better to ski and again we skied all day long and at 4pm we drove back home. The rest of the break I basically just laid on the couch and watched Netflix. Only on new years eve I got up and we went to a friends house again and watched the ball drop there.

The last 3 month

So first I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a while but I had a lot of stuff to do. In the last week of summer break (28.8.-3.9.) I went to school to say hello to the principal and to sign up for my subjects. I decided to take French3, US History1, Algebra 1, English2, Science (which I quit after about 3 weeks because it was too hard to understand and not that interesting and now I have a Study Hall where you can do homework or listen to music), Food and Nutrition, Fashion, Health/gym. I also decided to join the Volleyball team. Thursday the 1.9. I had to go to school for information and looking around in the school. My host sister helped me finding my locker and my classrooms, so that I’m not too lost the first day of school but I unfortunately was. The first week of school was pretty hard and I got lost several times but after a month I guess it was all better. And now after 3 month I don’t even have to concentrate myself to understand everything. But I still can’t manage that the school starts at 7:20 I mean it’s not a that big difference but we leave the house at 6:40 and that’s way too early for me :’D So how I earlier said I joined the Volleyball Team and I can say that that was probably one of the best decisions yet because I met so many nice girls there and it was just so much fun to play in a game. The volleyball season was only like 2 month and I have to say I really miss playing it even if I didn’t actually liked it back in Switzerland. Last week on Saturday was homecoming and me and my friends danced foe about 2 hours. It was so much fun. And Saturday Saskia, an old German exchange student came visiting for thanks giving and she stayed here for a week. We went black Friday shopping and for thanks giving we had around 20 people coming over it was so loud.

First day with my host family

Saturday august 13. at 8:30 my host mother and my younger host sister have taken me up from the airport and drove me to their home. There I meet my host brother and host dad and of course the 3 dogs. My older host sister was at a cheerleading training at this time After putting my stuff into my room I took a nap then we watched the Olympic games. A few hours later we’ve ate dinner and that was the first time I’ve tried shrimps and fish and surprisingly it wasn’t that bad. In the evening we went to the pop shop for drinking a milkshake. I went to bed at 10pm and I stood up at 1pm I’ve slept so much that night and now I’m excited about my year here.
